December 12,2014 update on 20% project

Today I am studying on how to attract people into my fundraiser. Not everybody wants to wake up, and go run a 5k ; so i need figure out how to persuade someone want to do this. One way to attract people is to have a speaker that is important tot the community, or a small local band. This will attract people by not wanting to just run on my event but, wanting to hear the speaker or local band. I need to also send the message of my event to the people locally so, they will have knowledge on what is going on. I need to send the accurate information, and have my fundraiser put well together (not sloppy). My fundraiser will also need to have an appropriate pricing; not too expensive, but at the same time not to cheap. I could also sell baked goods, shirts, e.t.c to help raise even more money. My fundraiser also needs to be able attract all ages, so I need something fun and exciting to attract teenager and young adults. My event needs to be able to attract adults (and maybe even seniors) so the event needs to be controlled at the same time. I plan to make further expectations in January 2015, so for now I only have a general idea of my 5k color run. I hope to succeed my color run for March for dimes in March.

November 10, 2014 update on 20% project

Today I am doing some simple research on prematurity, since I am doing a fundraiser for March for Dimes. I believe i should do this to have at least some background knowledge on the subject of the fund raiser.
November is the month for prematurity awareness. 543,000 babies a year are born before there expected due date. Premature babies, is the number one cause of neonatal mortality. The most common effect of being born early is learning problems. They can be mild, severe, or in the middle. A child may have long term hearing or poor eye sight. A child may have life lasting respiratory problems such as asthma. These effects of being born prematurely are just the minor effects. One of the major effects could be heart problems, such as having PDA (Patent Ductus arteriouses). This could cause heart failure as well as many other complications if left untreated.
This is just simple research on the effects of prematurity, I hope to learn more as the 20% project moves forward.

Novenber 7,2014 update on 20% project

My 20% time project will be a fundraiser for March for dimes. I will be doing a local 5K color run to help raise money  toward research for preventing prematurity, or babies born with undeveloped lungs and such. I'm not sure yet to when I will be having this event, I am only determined to have this event to help research toward prematurity. If you are interested to find out more about March for Dimes and their mission, here is a link: http://www.marchofdimes.org/mission.aspx There is also a video to the right for information about the journey of prematurity for the children and their parents. I will hopefully be able to host a color run to raise money for March of Dimes.
I will start organizing my project by researching about prematurity and babies born with body parts that are not fully grown yet, so I will have a clear explanation for what I am raising money towards. I will also do research on how to draw people in to the event, to where everybody from children, young adults, adults, and even elderly want to join my event to March for Dimes. In order to raise money for my event I will need to be able to draw people in, that's why I am researching on that topic as well. In order to know how to host a proper event I will also need to research how to have a successful public event. So basically, my first steps of research is going to be on prematurity and how to host the color run properly, and how to get people to come to my event. I hope that I will successfully complete the run to raise money for research towards prematurity.
